Jim is chairman of the Long Island Contractors' Association and immediate past president of the New York Chapter of Associated General Contractors. The Pratt family has been in construction since 1926. Jim started out working with his father at Guy Pratt Inc., after which he and his brother Tom started their own independent company, naming it Pratt Brothers Inc. A Garden City resident, Jim and his wife, Cathy, have three sons. Jim has a civil engineering degree from Lehigh University.

Paul is Secretary-Treasurer of Kings Park Asphalt and a third generation Long Island contractor. His company has been producing asphalt at the same Kings Park location for 59 years. A graduate of St. John's University with a degree in accounting, Farino joined his brothers, Michael, Jack and Anthony at the family firm after three years of working for a Fortune 500 company. He lives in Fort Salonga with his wife, Debbie, and two sons.

Pat is president of Edward Ehrbar, Inc. a 106-year-old family-owned distributor of construction equipment based in Yonkers. Pat began with the company part-time during his high school and college years. After he earned his degree in business economics from the State University of New York, Albany, he joined as a full-time employee. He's a member of the Westchester County Construction Industry Council, the New York City General Contractors Association and the Association of Equipment Distributors. He lives in Nesconset with his wife, Carlyn, and two children.

Chester is President and CEO of Clifford Broman & Son, Inc., a general contracting company, and 110 Sand Company. He also holds interests in several other general contracting businesses. In addition, Chester and his wife, Mary, are the owners of Chestertown Farm a 300 acre thoroughbred breeding farm in Chestertown, NY. Chester is a Trustee of the New York Racing Association, first appointed by Gov. George Pataki and reappointed by Gov. David Paterson. The company headquarters are located in West Babylon. Chester and his wife, Mary, live in Babylon have three children and four grandchildren.

James is general manager at Rason Asphalt. He entered the family construction business in 2001, shortly after graduating from Hofstra University Law School. He worked for Newborn Construction and moved to Rason Asphalt in 2004. In addition, he is an employer trustee for the benefit funds of Local 138, International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). James holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Hofstra University. He and his wife, Lorraine, and daughter, Ella, live in Massapequa.

John is President for InterCounty Paving Associates in Hicksville. He and his brother, Carl, founded the firm in Hackettstown, NJ and it has now expanded to Pennsylvania and New York. He is active in many charities and has a special interest in the Cooley's Anemia Foundation, following in the footsteps of his uncles, Nick and Carl Lizza. He is an avid golfer, fisherman, thoroughbred racing enthusiast and lover of fine wines. He lives in his hometown of Oyster Bay.

Paul is Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration for Posillico. He is responsible for the financial, budgeting, forecasting, administrative systems and cost control of all business areas. He has been with the firm for 15 years. He is active in many trade associations and serves as the chairman for the Association of General Contractors of New York, working to advocate for the construction industry and safeguard its workers. Paul is a civil engineering graduate from Clemson University and has been a long time resident of Huntington.

Peter is President of Peter Scalamandre & Sons, Inc. and its eight subsidiaries. Started in 1929 by Peter's grandfather, the business began as a small driveway contractor and has successfully grown under the guidance of Peter's father, Joe, and his uncle, Fred, into a full service construction firm. A graduate of Utica College with a degree in construction management, Peter is a member and Past President of the Concrete Contractors of New York. Devoted to helping others in need, Peter sits on the board of the De La Salle School for underprivileged middle school boys in Freeport. He's an avid boater and lives with his wife, Connie, and two daughters in Seaford.


Marc Herbst

Marc Herbst was appointed as the Executive Director of the Long Island Contractors' Association, Inc. (LICA) in September 2006. As the association's chief executive officer he is responsible for the daily administration of programs and services offered to its more than 150 members and the public. Mr. Herbst also serves as Vice President of the New York Roadway and Infrastructure Coalition (NYRIC) and Vice Chairman of the Council of State Executives for the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA).

Sheryl Buro joined LICA in 2009 as Comptroller / Office Administrator, responsible for internal financial controls and administration, as well as monitoring external financial matters affecting the highway and heavy construction industry, such as analyzing and auditing public works bids, contracts and municipal capital programs. For nearly a decade prior to joining LICA, Sheryl held several prestigious Associate positions in the Treasury, Management Reporting & Analysis, and Fund Accounting Departments at Ivy Asset Management...
Michelle Giametta
Manager of
Michelle Giametta joined LICA in 2010 as Manager of Communications, responsible for managing the website, social media technologies, and electronic communications and newsletters, drafting press releases and newsletter articles, and organizing and arranging media events. Prior to joining LICA, Michelle interned at a variety of communication organizations including News 12 Long Island as a producer's and reporter's assistant, the Independent Film Channel (IFC), and the Hofstra University Media Literacy Research team.
