LICA Holiday Party & 2021 Honorees Named
LICA looks forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming Holiday Party & Annual Meeting on Wednesday, December 1 at the Mansion at Oyster Bay, in Woodbury. As part of the event, LICA will be honoring our 2021 Leadership and Partnership Award winners. This year, LICA’s Leadership Award goes to Republican Congressman Andrew Garbarino (NY-D2). In addition to his support calling for a fix to the Oakdale Merge intersection, Rep. Garbarino also had the courage to put his constituents ahead of politics, to vote YES for the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure & Investment Jobs Act (IIJA). The IIJA will play a major role in improving the country’s economy, while keeping our members working to ensure that important infrastructure improvements to our region’s highways, bridges, water systems and more, can now move forward. As part of this package, Garbarino was also instrumental in securing more than $21 million in funding for our local MacArthur Airport in Islip.
The 2021 LICA Partnership Award will be presented to the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV). The League’s efforts to protect public health, fight climate change and conserve local land and waters are crucial to ensuring that New York- Long Island, in particular- retains the high quality of life it is known for. Although many view our industry as being ‘at odds’ with environmental groups, that is not the case. Many of the largest and most important public works projects that keep our members employed, are good for the environment as well – such as the Bay Park Conveyance project and sewer expansions (like those in Suffolk County) which will help reduce nitrogen output and improve our local waters.
Please be sure to join us on December 1 (5:30-8:30 pm) as we honor these award recipients and enjoy an evening of good friends, good food and good fun! The event is FREE for LICA members, elected officials & invited guests- however registration is required. Please RSVP on/before Nov. 28. We look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, we ask members to review the official notice below regarding business matters for the LICA Annual Meeting.
